Status: Full Time Salaried

Reports to: Deputy Director

The Museum of Photographic Arts (MoPA) seeks an energetic and highly detail oriented individual with strong communication and organizational skills for the position of Full Charge Bookkeeper. The Full Charge Bookkeeper is responsible for the management and oversight of MoPA’s accounting, payroll, and business activities. The successful candidate must be able to multi-task and should have strong understanding of GAAP and non profit accounting.

Chief responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Manage all aspects of day to day bookkeeping and accounting operations including but not limited to: A/P, A/R, payroll, taxes, complex journal entries, reconciliation, cash flows, budgeting, and annual audit coordination.
• Maintain and enter information in unrestricted, temporary restricted and permanent restricted Assets
• Manage financial information by classes for 9 exhibitions, 10 education programs, and a variety of fundraising events.
• Track, enter, manage financial information for prepaid expenses, deferred revenue, pledges, etc.
• Responsible for check issuance, managing receivables and payables.
• Ensure that accounts payables and closings are performed in a timely manner.
• Monitor and report on financial performance relative to budgets and forecasts to the Director, Deputy Director, Finance Committee, and Department Directors.
• Meet regularly and work closely with multiple Department Directors to manage their expenses, budgets, and forecasts.
• Assist the Deputy Director in training Department Directors and staff on MoPA’s Accounting Procedures and Policies.
• Establish and maintain systems of internal controls to ensure the integrity of all financial reporting systems, processes and data, and recommend upgrades/replacement to keep abreast of the latest information technology.
• With the Deputy Director update and maintain comprehensive written financial accounting policies, procedures, and templates to ensure accurate and proper financial reporting.
• Investigate, supervise, motivate, lead, teach, implement, interpret, and explain accounting/finance and/or complex policy and procedures.
• Track, compile, enter, and prepare financial information for grant reporting.
• Develop and maintain excellent vendor relationships.
• Coordinate and work closely with consulting CPA to reconcile books monthly.
• Coordinate and work closely with auditors.
• Perform non-routine tasks requiring independent judgment, initiative, creativity, and professionalism.
• Participate in Museum events such as exhibition openings and fundraisers.

Qualifications:
• BS in Accounting preferred.
• 3-5 years of accounting, financial management, and financial analysis experience.

• MS Office and QuickBooks knowledge and experience required
• Non Profit Accounting/Financial experience required.
• Strong verbal and writing skills.
• Understanding of GAAP, financial statements (cash flow, budgets, P/L, balance sheet), operational reporting information and data, and tax planning and reporting.
