Position Impact

Chabot is seeking a passionate, self-starting, problem solving visionary to lead the development, planning and implementation of our annual fundraising efforts that support the Centers mission and programs. The Assistant Director of Development is a creative, collaborative person, that is a flexible problem solver.

Key Priorities

Responsible for all aspects of Chabots annual fundraising campaigns to make revenue targets. Develop and implement the strategy for the annual fund process and oversee a succession strategy from membership to donors.
Essential Functions

Annual Fundraising (75%)

Lead strategy for annual fundraising goals and budget in consultation with Director of Institutional Advancement, development staff.

Manage the Stellar Society donor circle program and communications. Manage program and strategy for donor society renewals, acquisitions, cultivation and stewardship efforts.

Coordination of ongoing solicitation of individual, corporate, and foundation gifts. Directly solicit individuals, close on gifts, and manage stewardship efforts.

Manage the Board Development Committee to develop strategies to initiate and meet aggressive fundraising goals. Work with Development Committee to manage meeting agendas, calendars and goals.
Manage all aspects of Chabots annual fundraising and donor events, including the Starlight Gala.

Grow annual corporate relationships with a portfolio of Corporate Donors to support Chabots education, outreach and community programs, through sponsorship opportunities, grants, and meetings. Research and identify new prospects, reach out to corporate prospects to discuss their funding priorities, develop proposal and sponsorship collateral.

Grants and Donor Services Administration (25%)

Lead grant strategy for initiatives and programs.

Maintain grants submission and grant reporting deadline calendar. Project manage submission materials. Collaborate with program staff, and development team on foundation and government grants and reports.

Provide lists of donors for tracking purposes, department evaluation, annual report, and mailing lists for events and solicitations.

Manage prospect research efforts.

Manage all donor benefits and fulfillment tracking, manage donor recognition and acknowledgement.

Lead donor communication efforts including reports, recognition updates, newsletters, invitations etc.

Minimum Qualifications
Passion for the mission of Chabot Space & Science Center

Excellent interpersonal, persuasive and oral and written communication skills.

A successful track record of identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding individual donors, corporations and foundations.

A proven record of measurable results in organizing and implementing such activities as: major gifts, annual gifts, grant writing, corporate and foundation giving, direct mail and special events.

Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Office applications.

Database experience

Effective time management, excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.

A strong ability to prioritize and think critically.

Strong ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Strategic thinker; highly organized and able to meet deadlines. Strong time, budget, and organizational management skills, including the capacity to work on several projects simultaneously.

Possesses diplomacy and adeptness in working across multiple departments and levels.

Desired Qualifications

Altru experience

A bachelor's degree, advanced degree

Bilingual

Equivalent education/experience can substitute for all qualifications, unless legal requirements apply to the role.
