Reporting to the President and CEO of Old Sturbridge Village (OSV), the Executive Director will manage Coggeshall Farm Museum (CFM) and all its related projects, events, and staff. They will develop new programs to strengthen CFMs identity as an outdoor learning institution that focuses on agricultural, environmental, and history education. This position will require strong interpersonal skills and five years of experience managing high-functioning teams. We are looking for an energetic leader who can build and mentor a team of employees, fellows and interns, and volunteers. The Director will proactively deepen Old Sturbridge Villages commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility.
The Executive Director will collaborate with the OSV President and CEO to define and implement a new operating plan for CFM that includes robust program offerings for school-age groups, an annual calendar of themed weekends and pop-up events executed in cooperation with OSV staff, and residential long-term fellowship programs for emerging professionals in education and agriculture. Successful execution of this plan will require outstanding communication, collaboration, innovation, and organization. CFM will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2023; we are seeking a leader who will engage the Bristol, Rhode Island community and build enthusiasm for CFM and its future.
In 2020, Coggeshall Farm Museum and Old Sturbridge Village entered into an innovative management partnership that leverages the capacity of OSV to support the administrative functions of CFM. Located on 48 acres of coastal farmland in Bristol, Rhode Island, CFM offers a glimpse of life on a salt marsh farm in the late 18th century, heritage breed animals and historic approaches to farming and gardening, and a diverse and changing landscape.

Qualifications
Bachelors degree in education; horticulture, agriculture, or environmental science; or history preferred, but not required.
Must have at least 5 years of leadership experience.
Demonstrated sound and consistent judgment, initiative and the ability to deal with complex, evolving situations.
Prior experience working in non-profit organizations is preferred, but not required.
Experience managing, training, and mentoring staff.
Ability to work cooperatively with diverse groups.
Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adept at prioritizing and managing multiple tasks.
Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.

Essential Duties
Lead and manage the museums staff of educators and interpreters, including interns and fellows.
Oversee the maintenance of the site and the care of its historic and modern buildings, and its landscape.
Lead the development of rigorous/engaging education programming. Engage the local school districts, re-establishing CFM as a school trip destination.
Create innovative special programs designed to grow our audience and better engage our visitors.
Manage all collaborative relationships with key strategic partners, vendors and volunteers.
Work with Development to create donor opportunities and engage donors and members on site.
Promote diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility.
Collaborate with OSV Leadership on the development of annual operating and capital budgets and manage cost centers.
Ensure high performance from all employees of the museum and collaborate with OSV to provide exceptional training and professional development for all staff.
