The Frontline Manager is a multi-department position responsible for supervising daily operations of retail, ticketing, and membership. The position is responsible for staff supervision and morale, fiscal responsibilities and sales growth. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments, possess exceptional leadership abilities and customer service skills, have technical aptitude with point of sale systems, as well as excellent organizational, analytical, marketing and public relations talents. The candidate will also demonstrate a proven ability to analyze and solve problems, establish and meet goals, set priorities, handle diverse responsibilities and deadlines, and manage an eclectic, energetic staff.

SUMMARY

The Frontline Manager is a multi-department position responsible for supervising daily operations of retail, ticketing, and membership. The position is responsible for staff supervision and morale, fiscal responsibilities and sales growth. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments, possess exceptional leadership abilities and customer service skills, have technical aptitude with point of sale systems, as well as excellent organizational, analytical, marketing and public relations talents. The candidate will also demonstrate a proven ability to analyze and solve problems, establish and meet goals, set priorities, handle diverse responsibilities and deadlines, and manage an eclectic, energetic staff.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Customer Service/Sales:

Lead staff in achieving retail sales goals
Promote active customer service, with a focus on demonstration, exploration, and fun
Work collaboratively with the buying team to ensure optimal merchandising standards and product mix to meet sales goals
Analyze business performance and implement action plans to improve sales through effective visual merchandising, contests, data analysis, etc.
Model and maintain positive interactions with customers-demonstrating a positive say yes attitude; manage visitor comment and complaint resolution


Staff Supervision:

Manage daily operations of the Frontline department, with a focus on retail locations
Work in collaboration with Frontline management team to interview, hire, train, and manage a diverse staff; recognize and respond to performance issues in a timely manner
Ongoing development and refinement of training plans and materials for large cross-functional team
Lead, manage, and mentor a team of assistant managers and Frontline staff
Develop and maintain a team-oriented environment. Maintain effective lines of communication between staff and management
Train Frontline staff on upcoming promotions, museum programs, and events; ensure successful execution, both with the staff and within systems
Model appropriate behavioral standards for staff; set pace for work quality and productivity


Fiscal Responsibilities and Sales Growth:

Produces annual strategic Frontline plan for division
Work collaboratively with the scheduling manager to ensure adequate retail staffing to achieve goals
Work within established budget; assist with fiscal cash deposits, audits, reconciliation, and inventory/loss prevention control; assist in budget and forecast planning
Maintain equipment and systems in close coordination with the Frontline SysAdmin and Information Technology department
Assist Inventory Coordinators, Sys Admin and Merchandising Managers with accurate and timely completion of scheduled inventories and database maintenance
Produces daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue reports; provides custom revenue reporting as needed
Perform other duties and assignments as needed


QUALIFICATIONS

BA/BS and 5 years supervisory and management experience in a similar position, preferably in a non-profit or attractions environment
Must be available to work weekend, evening, and holiday hours as required by business needs
Proven track record in achieving sales goals
Merchandising experience preferred
Strong computer skills, including advanced experience with POS systems, MS Word, and Excel; ability to learn additional software programs
POS administration experience required; previous experience with Siriusware preferred
Must have experience scheduling a complex staff; previous experience with When to Work or similar online scheduling tools preferred
Must have excellent communication skills and ability to remain diplomatic and equitable
Ability to be professional and courteous in all interactions with general public, educational community, museum staff, and professional guests; comfortable interacting with senior management, high level donors, and all other members of our diverse community
Strong organizational and time management skills; precise and detail-oriented; able to multi-task and handle multiple priorities
Advanced understanding of financial planning and analysis, including accounting, budgets, and reporting
Excellent crisis management and resolution skills; ability to calm escalated situations, both in person, over the phone, and through email
Demonstrated ability to work independently and in close cooperation with other team members; must be a team player and hands-on leader
Able to use general office equipment and perform standard office functions, such as filing, faxing, and copying
Experience with accounting tasks such as billing, A/P, and A/R required; previous buying experience a plus
Able to move from place to place which may include standing and/or walking for extended periods of time; lift and carry up to 75 pounds short distances
