HR Administrator



The HR Administrator provides Human Resources and general administrative support for the HR/Organizational Development Department. The positions primary responsibilities include HRIS (Human Resources Information System) data entry, maintenance of personnel files, department invoice reconciliation, assisting with job postings and resume distribution, tracking of employee data, and preparation of HR related reports to various governmental agencies. This position supports the daily functions of the department including onboarding and internal communications work and administrative support for the Director of Organizational Development. This is a confidential (non-Union), position, reporting to the Senior Human Resources Manager.


HRIS data input, maintenance, and reporting, ensuring accuracy / confidentiality of all employee data and salary information
Job posting and resume sorting within our applicant tracking system (ATS)
Act as system administrator for various employee benefit programs, such as Clipper Direct, Continuing Education, SF Health Care Security Ordinance, Tickets @Work, BAVC
Provide administrative support for the Organizational Development Team
Provide administrative support for new hires, terminations and employee status changes.
Maintain personnel files, new employee orientation files, OD forms and wiki intranet site
Carry out reference checks / employment verifications
Notify managers of significant dates pertaining to employee evaluations, fixed-term end dates, etc.
Prepare reports and disseminate information internally and externally as needed
Reconcile benefits invoices to plan enrollment.
Prepare departmental invoices and billing submissions for payment
Set up and coordinate meetings and training sessions
Keep current on changing HR laws/regulations.
Provide training and support to managers on ATS and HRIS as needed. Assist with on-going administration of policies and procedures and employment practices
Perform additional duties as assigned


A bachelors degree and one (1) year HR generalist experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience with and knowledge of HR policies and procedures
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical, research, and problem solving skills
Excellent computer skills: Word, Excel. and Google suite; experience with databases/HRIS a plus
Able to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise good judgment to resolve, make recommendations, or seek guidance on issues/questions
Highly organized; can effectively handle competing priorities, deadlines and details
Demonstrated ability to implement administrative procedures and recommend changes for increased efficiency
Able to communicate with tact and diplomacy
Prior experience in union work setting helpful


This position is open until filled.

This is regular, full-time (37.5 hours per week), non-exempt position that includes benefits. Please, no phone calls in regards to this job.
