SUMMARY

The Exploratorium Teacher Institute (TI) is seeking a dynamic Program Manager with a proven administrative background and exceptional communication skills to support its team of scientists and classroom teachers and its broad range of teacher professional learning programs both regionally and across the state.

The Program Manager is responsible for the administrative management of all projects and events within the Teacher Institute (TI) including budget oversight, grant and contract management and all related tasks and activities, as well as serving as a liaison with other departments and external stakeholders. This position requires a highly organized person with excellent planning, budgeting, problem-solving and communication skills. The Program Manager reports to the Director of Teaching and Learning and works in close collaboration with the Associate Director of the division.

The Exploratorium Teacher Institute is a nationally recognized teacher professional development center that promotes inquiry-rich teaching and learning in middle and high school science classrooms. TIs mission is to create and support a collaborative community of teachers, at all levels of their careers, through professional development that joyfully emphasizes the teaching and learning of science as a process for understanding the world around us. TIs body of work includes face-to-face workshops, online courses and resources, and research on teacher learning. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Oversee department and project budgets; organize and track expenses and revenue, interfacing with the Accounting and Finance Departments as necessary.
Manage project timelines, workflow and deliverables, oversee contracts, and assist in grant proposal and report preparation.
Assist Director of Teaching and Learning in identifying staffing needs and issues for projects and facilitate process in conjunction with the division Associate Director.
Support Director of Teaching and Learning and Teacher Institute staff in planning, organizing and execution of projects, workshops and events.
Act as a program representative with both internal and external stakeholders; host visiting educators, scientists, administrators and funding agency representatives as needed.
Facilitate communication and serve as a liaison with staff from other divisions to ensure cross-divisional alignment.
Supervise a Project Coordinator, volunteers, interns and temporary/on-call staff, and manage Teacher Institute team members to keep all projects on scope, schedule and budget.
Juggle multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

BA and 5 years of experience in project and budget management, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience working in a non-profit or educational setting preferred.
Proven track record in managing multiple projects, contracts and multi-year grants.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written.
Demonstrated problem solving abilities.
Strong team player with experience working with, responding to, and juggling the needs of multiple team members and managers.
Proven ability to interact with a wide variety of individuals and the general public with tact and professionalism.
High level of computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Application Suite required). Experience with database software (Salesforce) is a plus.
Ability to work on some Saturdays, evenings, and early mornings.
