The Exploratoriums Global Studios division focuses on co-creating experiences, galleries, exhibits, and programs with like-minded groups and institutions worldwide. The Global Studios (GS) Program Manager will manage the co-development of programs with these global partners. This includes the development, implementation, and administration of programs and program teams to achieve project goals in three key dimensions: impact, economics, and learning. The GS Program Manager will develop and maintain fruitful, collaborative relationships with external and internal groups as well as with the communities in which we work. The successful candidate will be a flexible and resourceful problem-solver, an excellent communicator/listener, and thrive in a dynamic, experimental environment.

This position requires local, domestic, and international travel to our partner sites and reports to the GS Director of Planning and Program Development.


Management: Within the framework of specific GS partnerships, lead project teams and partners in the co-development of programs including planning, stakeholder engagement, research, prototyping, professional development and implementation. Define and manage timelines, schedules, budgets, and other necessary resources. Manage the production of program events and experiments, both locally and internationally.
Program Development: In collaboration with project teams and partners, develop programs that align with partner and Exploratorium impact and learning goals. This involves idea generation, implementation, evaluation, and iteration.
Community and Stakeholder Engagement: Engage key stakeholders and community members to inform and co-develop extraordinary learning experiences (programs and exhibits) tailored to project goals and local conditions. Help to ensure long-term impact and sustainability by leveraging program activities to recruit and professionally develop local talent.
Execution and Administration: Manage resources to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality program experiences. Meet or exceed partner expectations for project milestones and deliverables.
Teamwork: Be a great collaborator, teammate and learner. Listen, contribute and help to advance our methodologies, ideas, and program models. Stay open, flexible and pitch in where needed. Give and receive feedback.
External Collaboration and Communication: Serve as an articulate ambassador and representative of the Exploratorium. Understand and share our vision, values, and pedagogy as appropriate with collaborators, potential partners and funders, outside agencies, and others. Exercise discretion with regard to confidential information.
Documentation: Work with project teams to plan and document program development work for internal and external purposes as required.

Bachelor level degree or combination of education and work experience
Minimum 5 years experience in project or program management:
o Successfully producing small and large-scale events
o Managing scope, budgets, timelines, detailed execution and complex teams
o Engaging diverse stakeholders within a clear programmatic vision
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
Proven ability to manage, prioritize and problem-solve
Comfortable in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Demonstrated commitment to follow-through and attention to detail
Discreet and diplomatic with regard to sensitive or confidential matters
Cross-cultural fluency and empathy; ability to work with diverse people
Current passport and ability to travel
Bilingual fluency a plus, especially Portuguese
International work experience a plus.
