Senior HR Generalist: Talent Acquisition, Development and Training

The Senior HR Generalist: Talent Acquisition, Development and Training is one of three Senior HR Generalists in charge of managing and implementing HR functions for a staff of 350 regular and 300 seasonal/on-call employees at the Exploratorium. In addition to a variety of HR generalist tasks this position is charged with the special focus of planning, developing, managing, and overseeing talent acquisition and recruitment processes and strategies for the organization, as well as assessing training and development needs, and delivering and supporting staff trainings where needed and appropriate. This position is part of the team that includes Human Resources, Diversity, Volunteer Engagement, Education Programs and Internal Communications. This position reports to the Director of Organizational Development.

Recruiting Management/Talent Acquisition
Develop and promote a talent acquisition strategy that focuses on equity in the recruitment process.
Partner with hiring managers to clarify required job skills and competencies and write accurate and compelling job descriptions.
Develop position-specific recruitment plans using multiple approaches, including networking, social media, events, and building partnerships with community organizations and agencies
Support and coach hiring managers and interview teams with best practices, from using Jazz ATS, through interviewing, to hiring decisions and reference checks.
Drive continuous improvement of the organizations hiring and onboarding processes, including developing and monitoring success metrics
Support reference checks, generate and send offer letters, and with HR team conduct new employee orientation sessions.

Talent Development & Training
Partner with OD Director in developing and implementing a training and professional development program to support the Exploratoriums strategic goals and mission as a learning organization
Provide staff training as appropriate, particularly around the hiring process
Conduct regular organizational training needs assessments.
Partner with Education Program Specialist to develop, schedule, and promote training and professional development calendar, including regular compliance training.
Partner with supervisors in developing and meeting individual department training needs.
Establish training outcomes, metrics and assessments to manage and monitor efficacy of talent development activities.

HR Generalist & Team Support
Participate as an HR team member to manage workflow and record keeping, the completion of reports and surveys, HRIS input and ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of all employee data and salary information.
Apply human resources rules, policies, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements in resolving routine and complex issues associated with a variety of human resources functional areas.
Keep current on and help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulation
Manage, monitor and provide reports on HR metrics
Model and support the development of multicultural competence (including an awareness and understanding of historically disadvantaged populations) and help create an educational and work environment that affirms commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Represent the HR department at internal and external meetings as required; work cooperatively with administrative departments to support the success of all employees
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum of five years' increasingly responsible human resources generalist experience with exposure to multiple HR disciplines, specifically inclusive of experience supporting or managing talent acquisition and development.
Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to interpret federal and state personnel laws, rules and regulations.
Excellent communication skills including proven analytical/writing skills, ability to speak effectively in public, and experience facilitating meetings.
Excellent interpersonal skills; proven ability to work effectively as part of a team and to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external constituents.
Ability to represent the Exploratorium in a positive and professional manner
Ability to maintain confidentiality, think critically and exercise independent judgment.
Experience or participation with persons from diverse backgrounds such as sexual orientation, racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, socio-economic, physical and learning abilities, and a commitment to an inclusive and equitable working / learning environment.
Demonstrated attention to detail as well as previous experience maintaining accurate records, managing multiple tasks and frequent deadlines, and planning and organizing work in order to meet changing priorities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically experience creating & editing documents, spreadsheets and presentations. Experience navigating HRIS software and Applicant Tracking systems. Previous success learning new computer software programs/platforms.

BA degree in human resources, business administration, or related field desired.
Human Resources Certification desired, SPHR preferred.
Experience in nonprofit human resources is preferred
Experience working in a union work setting.
Ability to speak a language other than English
