Senior Manager, Donor Services

The Senior Manager, Donor Services is responsible for overseeing all Development Systems, including gift processing, the donor database, major gifts prospect pool, donor research and gift acceptance policies and procedures. This position also handles strategic management of the major gifts prospect pool and the establishment of policies, systems and procedures around gift acceptance and recognition. The Senior Manager of Donor Services also analyzes donor data to inform department revenue projections and fundraising strategy.

This position oversees the Development Services Manager; Development Assistant; and Development Associate, Donor Services. This position reports to the Associate Director of Administration and works closely with the Associate Director of Development, as well as senior positions within Development, accounting and IT.

Ensure accurate data management and create reporting to aid the Development department with cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of all major donors, foundation and corporate donors, and leadership donors
Manage the Development Services team; provide on-going performance feedback, coaching and support, and develop individualized work plans
Working closely with the Associate Director of Development, oversee the prospect management function for Development, including strategic management of the prospect pipeline, design and implementation of reports, as well as establishment of data entry policies and procedures
Oversee Siriusware and Raisers Edge data sync and work closely with the IT department to manage the Siriusware system for membership and major gifts
Assist departments Associate Director of Administration with the departments revenue projections
Work closely with Frontline staff to provide excellent donor experience for on-site visits and work with the Siriusware team to develop systems of reporting to track donor visits and purchases
Manage research function; conduct prospect research, as needed, or oversee assignment to team members as appropriate; conduct periodic wealth, address, age screenings and other database enhancements
Oversee maintenance of a comprehensive accounting and acknowledgment process for all donations to the Exploratorium, including donor records and recognition
Prioritize department data requests and oversee department production calendar
Work closely with other department personnel to establish donor recognition policy and maintain recognition standards for annual reports, donor walls, and other areas where donor names are listed
Liaise with Finance Department on meticulous reporting of gifts and pledges
Keep informed on current information on giving, especially tax law and other IRS rulings which affect charitable giving

Undergraduate degree and a minimum of five years of successful hands-on experience in the management of development activities, ideally in a non-profit cultural/educational institution with a national presence
Expert knowledge of Raisers Edge and Sales Force development systems; including pulling data, developing reports and conducting analysis
Experience/familiarity with capital and annual fund campaigns and development services work, including research, prospect tracking, cultivation and solicitation; and department budgeting
Troubleshooting skills for problems with data syncs between multiple systems
Familiarity with non-profit accounting principles and federal guidelines for gift acceptance and recognition
A management style that promotes teamwork, enhances creativity and motivation, facilitates communication and builds consensus
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, sound judgement, a record of taking initiative, professional presence, flexibility
